June 22,23 2013 1st Points Meet
Another beautiful day to be racing at Miramichi Dragway Park. Very smooth today with very few (if any) oil downs. Program ran through quickly with some very competitive racing. Last pass, finals of super-pro, ran at 3:45. Here are the numbers for the class winners (pictures to follow):
Rylie Green took the win over Braxton Stafford in the final. Stafford lit the tree red with a .497 light. Green ran an 8.232 on an 8.15 dial to Stafford's 7.927 on a 7.90 dial. Third place went to Jensen Green who lost to big brother Rylie in the previous round.
Carl Leeman took his 1979 Camaro to the winners circle after beating Richard Legere and his 1980 Trans Am in the sportsman final. Leeman ran a 13.743 on a 13.60 dial to Legere's 14.175 on a 14.01 dial. Third place went to Robert Murray and his 2010 Ford Taurus beating Michelle Keirstead driving her 2001 Acura Integra.
The bike sled final saw a rematch from the finals at last years team race. Mike O'Neill on his 2006 Suzuki drag bike beat Glenn Frizzell on his 2000 Artic Cat 800. O'Neill ran an 8.796 on an 8.79 dial to Frizzel's 10.339 break out on a 10.40 dial.
Jeff Wilson and his 1974 Chevy Monza met up with Mathieu Roy and his 1992 Ford Mustang GT, making the pro final a classic Chevy/Ford final. Wilson ran 11.797 on a 11.78 dial beating Roy who ran a 12.888 on a 12.83 dial. Third place went to Rene Parker (1979 Pontiac Firebird) who lost in the previous round to Mathieu Roy.
Superpro saw Ron Manderson take his 1968 Camaro to the finals against Glenn MacLean and his 1983 Trans Am. Manderson took the win running a 9.963 on a 9.93 dial. MacLean broke out by 7/1000ths running a 9.893 on a 9.90 dial. Third place went to Cody Hobart and his 2000 Dan Page dragster after losing to Glen MacLean the previous round.
A big thank you to the staff for a great weekend of racing and to Mother Nature who decided to cooperate.
Congratulations to all of the winners. Hopefully we will see everyone at the next one.
To all those traveling home from Miramichi, Cape Breton or from Epping......please travel safe.
